Origin: From Arabic رَبِيع ‎(rabīʿ, “spring”). A near homophone is Arabic رَابِعَة ‎(rābiʿa), the feminine of رَابِع ‎(rābiʿ, “fourth”), from أَرْبَعَة ‎(ʾarbaʿa, “four”). Hence Rabia can also mean "the fourth female".
