In the following, there are going to be four categories of a places that start with D. Each of the four categories is going to have five examples. The categories of the four places are, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa. There will be five nouns relating to each of the four continents. And besides it, its definition or description. Below it, will be the noun being used in a sentence.

 

Europe

Dalmatia -a historical region of Croatia on the Adriatic Sea; mountainous with many islands.

The Dalmatia has a sea next to it that contains over 1,300 islands!

 

Dardanelles -the strait between the Aegean and the Sea of Marmara that separates European Turkey from Asian Turkey.

Dardanelles might separate Europe and Asia, but the waterway connects the Black Sea to the Mediterranean Sea.

 

Daugavpils-a city of southeastern Latvia.

While touring Daugavpils, the family were enveloped by the towering castles.

 

Donets Basin -an industrial region in the Ukraine.

The Donets Basin has become an industrialized territory suffering majorly from pollution.

 

Danmark -a constitutional monarchy in northern Europe; consists of the mainland of Jutland and many islands between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.

After meeting the people of Danmark, the family even thought of moving to Danmark.

 

Asia

 

Dhahran -an oil town in eastern Saudi Arabia on an inlet from the Persian Gulf; in June 1996 terrorists bombed an apartment complex in Dhahran killing 19 United States soldiers and wounding more than 300 people.

For seventy-seven years, headquarters in Dhahran continue to be the biggest oil company in the world.

Entering a restaurant in Da Nang, their fish ball noodle soup was beyond perfection.

 

Dali – city in china

Dali city, is home to the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng temple.

 

Dairen-a port and shipbuilding center in northeastern China on the Liaodong Peninsula; now a part of Luda.

Dairen has several beaches that attract many tourists, especially from Russia.

 

Daraga – municipality in the Philippines

A volcano in Daraga killed 1,200, but the ruins became a tourist attraction.
